I ordered 25 chicks and they arrived safely. One of the polish has a tiny blood spot on its beak in between the nostrils. I cleaned it and put a little neosporin on it. The other chicks will come up to it and peck it on the spot. I will assume its a shipping injury. What else can I do for the chick (Dotty) to help it along. Do I need to separate it from the others?

If you have blue kote put that in the red spot. In not try some genital violet. Chicks will peck at any thing red they see. Also you can try a red bulb in their brooder so that they can't see the red spot so well.
**Note Genital violet and blue kote both will stain so be careful

Keep her separate if you can. I know it's hard because they are in a brooder but the others could easily peck her to death.

How’s the chick? My chick looks the same... hatched with it!

Unfortunately, the member you are responding to hasn't been active for six years. If you're looking for help, your best bet would be starting your own thread. If you're seeing simply a blood spot on the top beak, it's possible the chick scratched the keratin coating surrounding the beak during zipping process.

I should really check before responding to a thread resurrected by another. Zombie threads always seem the most interesting. 😩
