Maine calling...

That's about all I had too. Judging starts at 9 am, I usually try to be there by then to look at the sale birds. There is usually a good turn out for the show, and many nice people that a willing to share their knowledge. The auction is usually after lunch I think?

This is their website, but the link to the show flyer only took me to a cover drawing and the date.

Hi
to all the new Mainers! My folks are originally from Deer Isle too, Oceanville and Stonington.

Hello Mainers, if anyone wants to see photo's from the Windsor Fair Poultry, goat and horse shows, just let me know. Wish I had introduced myself at the fair, a lot of wicked cool BYC peeps there. (Frozen Feathers was there!) FF is the only one I've met (she adopted Louie), speaking of good chickens, I swaped an EE for Louie and couldn't be any happier. Frozen Feathers feels she got the better deal, well keep thinking that, lol, my girls are feather less on their backs...you go Louie!!!! (hee hee he) Cloe is such a sweetheart too.

Searsmont here.
We call our little 6.32 acres of God's Green Earth, Slan Abhaile Farms. Slan Abhaile is Irish Gaelic for Safe Way Home. We have 7 Silver Wyandotte cross hens, a bantam hen and a Silver Wyandotte roo and a Banty Roo. The hens dad is a pure bred, their mum came from a good neighborhood, as the saying goes.
We also have 3 horses of our own, Slainte Peat, an Appy/Paint mix who is at summer camp right now, Aon Dubh, a Standardbred who was too slow for the track, and Rua Madre, a saddlebred and two we look after for a friend. Two dogs, Roxxie the 14 year old sweetheart golden retriever and Jillian, the 1 year old psyko Australian Cattle Dog. And Tiger the cat. All of the animals are rescues of some sort.
I am looking to expand my flock a little and in the process of building a new hen house. Well, thinking about it is a part of the process.... I missed the Windsor Poultry thing by a day, I drove by and saw the signs the day after....

They call it 'tourist season' and yet they don't let you shoot 'em...

East Pittston, Maine, here. We call our farm "Thornecroft."

And BTW, I've never been a 'Mainer'; I'm a Mainiac.
