I have marans but have not decided if I will be going yet. I have 3 chicks to sell, so really not greatly worth going. I may just sell them from here or bring them to windsor (I'm fairly close to augusta) PM me if interested
I am planning on being in Maine around the latter part of July and first of August. I will be watching this thread. I'm looking forward to meeting some BYC Maine peeps.
I'm back from the swap, it was more of a go see for me. quite disappointing. the set up made it hard to find the vendor in among the cars in the parking lot. when I first went through, there were 2 chicken sellers (white face spanish and cuckoo marans) and one selling coops. when I came out of the store another one had set up. (this was at 10:30) I was told others had already come and gone.
there was a place to make and shoot off your own rocket (although you might think it was just a club doing this due to lack of signage.) I only found out when I went into the store. nobody even acknowledged me when I stood watching at the table they were doing this at. did anyone else go?
I went to the Augusta TSC swap today and from my perspective it was great. I arrived a little before 9 and sold 15 birds to the first person to walk up as I opened the back of my vehicle the remaining 6 and my hatching eggs were sold in a few more minutes and by the time I walked around most of the poultry was sold so not alot to look at. This was my first swap so I have no frame of reference but as a seller it went well, I never even had a chance to get out my signs, photos of my stock at home or anything so maybe the displays could have been better if we hadn't all sold out so quick. Beautiful day and nice people, I wish them all well with their new birds.
