there is talk of a august 1st swap at TSC in augusta, so wonder if this one will happen as well or will the august 1st take the place of this one.

Call the store and ask them.

I will be in Maine in August and would like to go to a BYC swap. I will be in the Ellsworth area. Anything going on near there???

I called the store-Guy who answered just got back from vacation...he wasn't sure of the day and the schedule didn't have anything on it yet. He said the girl who does that scheduling will be in tomorrow (Wednesday) so I will call back tomorrow to get the details. I will post the for sure date then!

I am surprised that the Lewiston TSC has never had a swap. That one is very easy to get to. It is right next to the turnpike and right next a very large city. Good exposure and turnout I bet. I wish each TSC had a person like the Augusta one that sets up the swaps themselves.

I live in Florida and have gone to some of our area TSC stores and asked if they would consider hosting a swap meet, Back Yard Chicken Swap. Our first one near me went over so well that I have been contacted by other TSC's in the area wanting to host swap meets and asked for my advice. I hooked up with one of the cashiers at the store and together we organized the swap. we had over 1500 attend. People came and went all day. I usually set up a BYC table.

Here are a couple of articles the local paper did on the TSC swap. I didn't get the BYC banner in time for this swap so I made one the night before the swap. I know it looks like a 5 year old made it but it was an old lady (me).

OK. Spoke to leslie, aug 14th is a farmstock for everything and that is the 2nd sat of every month and she said yes the chickens are welcome. There will also be one for the chicken swap Sunday aug 1 from 8:30 AM until 12;30 of course you can set up earlier than that that is the time for the public. I am at work and will post on the other thread when a get a min.

I would be more than willing to contact the local stores about setting up more swaps but I was told that the person that sets it up is responsible for getting insurance on the event which would cost about $250.00. I was also told if anything happens (bite, scratch, fall etc) then I could be sued. Does anyone know how the other swaps handle this? In this sue happy world I would rather do this the safe way.
