Maine Coon Cat Thread.

Okay, but the problem is, my dad won't let me have an indoor cat (frustrating) so the only option I have is a barn cat. But of course, I want a semi-sociable one who will still live outside but enjoys human company, if you get what i mean.
I don't see why not keep one, or two around for mousing.
An indoor/outdoor cat is good, if he lets you keep one as that.

A tip to keeping them around is to spay, or neuter them so they stay on the property, & not wander too far.

He is open to the idea to get barn cats. Do they do okay in the snow? We got really bad snow here. I have a shed which I think I can make a little corner for them and give them food/water/etc. He wouldn't let me have one if they weren't spayed/neutered.

I understand that. My parents won't let me have an indoor cat either. A shelter cat is just as a affectionate and sociable.

Maine Coons are made for winter. They're bred from the Norwegian Mountain Cat, which are a cat that looks like the Maine Coon. They'd be fine in the snow. Just will need routine grooming.

A shed/cat house is fine. As long as they have some sort of shelter.

Spay/neuter will be a good idea whether they're inside, or out.

I leave a cardboard box out in our garage for my cat. I live in the South so it doesn't get very cold.

Got my girl a harness so I can take her on walks.
