Maintaining a poop board in cold climates

You must have a deep pan of PDZ?
I use thin layer and yes, juicy poops will freeze and stick, and yes they can go flying but never into my face.

It's 1/2" thick and runny poop will still freeze to the bottom sometimes. I just leave that until it thaws.

I use a round rake so no matter what angle the handle is the dept remains the same and you can get right into corners with it.

put some straw on it. i live in ND but my coop is on ground dont have to clean it till spring..put chips on dirt then sraw on chips n just use fork to pull a little under roosts before adding..

We moved this winter so I didn't have time to do much besides converting the shed and get a poop board down :) We have lots of sand available so I think I'm going to start with a thin layer of that on the board and see how it goes.

Winters here get to well below zero with wind chill....and even now, it was 12 yesterday! Ugh, so ready for warmer weather.

Thanks for all the ideas so far! From my friend of course! LOL

Imma git me one a them!!!
Anything else is pretty useless, IMO.
It get's everything out, then I just add more PDZ when it gets too low to spread out over the whole board. I added a piece of shim stock to protect the mesh, otherwise it'll bend and break. Shake and tap(only on the frame part of basket) on roost to help sift.

This is what I use to spread the PDZ out, but screws are now only sticking out about 3/8-1/2".
