I hope to rotate my very small flock between two grassed pens and a dirt run in a controlled manner that some grass can be retained in the pens for them to enjoy (without building raised wire over salad bars). Is there a soil amendment, like garden lime, that I can use to counteract the chemical impact of the chickens on the soil? Is excess nitrogen the factor? Should I be checking the pH or is some other factor at play? Thank you in advance.

Lime will helpp with the Ph, but there's not a lot you can do about excess Nitrogen.

If you rotate them enough though, maybe it won't get bad enough to keep things from growing
