We have been raising chickens for years (right now we have easter egger hens and a french cuckoo maran rooster), but I am new to the incubating side of things.
I have a homemade styrofoam coolerbator, (no eggs in there yet, still just testing) which has been maintaining perfect temp and humidity for 2 days, until it dropped below freezing last night. Then the temp in the incubator dropped to 97 overnight. We live in a 1920's farm house and the incubator is in the basement, which keeps a pretty steady temperature, but the occasional draft is inevitable.
Would this greatly effect the hatch rate? And how could I keep it more constant at night? Maybe a blanket or sheet wrapped around it?
Thanks for your help!!!
