This is disgusting. Our country sure has it's weird heroes .

Ed McMahon died this week. He was a great entertainer, but prior to his stage accomplishments, he was a distinguished Marine Corps fighter pilot in WWII earning six Air Medals and attaining the rank of Colonel. He was discharged in 1946 and was later promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the CA Air National Guard.

Farrah Fawcett died this week after a long career in Hollywood as an actress. After she was diagnosed with cancer, she became an activist for cancer treatment and devoted her last remaining years encouraging people to seek treatment. She documented her plight on film and used it to encourage others to stay positive and upbeat despite their diagnosis and suffering.

Michael Jackson died this week. He was perhaps one of the greatest singers of modern time. He will also be remembered for his eccentric lifestyle that included sleeping with a chimpanzee, living in a carnival-like atmosphere at Neverland, his fascination with Peter Pan, and his numerous masks and costumes. He also admitted to finding pleasure sleeping with young boys and paying out millions of dollars in settlements to the families of these boys despite being acquitted by a court on one allegation of sexual molestation.

QUESTION - Which of the above did the House of Representatives declare a moment of silence for today? (Hint - It wasn't the first two.)

QUESTION - Which of the above's family received a personal note of condolence from President Obama?

(Hint - It wasn't the first two.)

Yeah i agree, but don't rememeber obama/House of representitives having anything to do with Michael.. Should also look at billy may's which got a good bit of mourning and he was a TV spokesman/actor.. It's just the people in the US care more about they're entertainment than anything else "In my opinion".. Most people who remember farrah fawcett only remember her for acting. And about the same for Ed... Just how it goes "I guess".

I got mad because alllll that was on tv was MJ King of Pop blah blah blah. I never much liked him music. It's also weird how a man that even though aquitted he still paid people for molestation allegations and he's still popular. That mayor dude is in it deep for having an affair and MJ just gets more publicity?

Well if the Mayor Dude would have died instead of getting caught then he would be a hero too.

I agree. It seems as though Michael was a pedophile and yet he is the one getting the media attention. Shame really.

Poor Farrah it just seemed nobody even cared enough to even truly acknowledge her death

She was a great actress and look at the film she made of her battle with cancer.
Such a Brave wonderful Woman.

Yet her death has been over shadowed by whether MJ use drugs or not and who is going to get his kids.
The doctor who took care of him his nurse it's just on the TV constantly.

I can't stand all the MJ publicity. EVERYWHERE I go there's his face. It's insane! I feel very sorry for his victims. To be molested is bad enough....but to be molested and then have to see that person on tv, on magazine covers in every store, hear about him on the radio, etc, etc... now that is just torture.

Hmmmm. Personally, I don't think the House of Representatives should have moments of silence for anyone, and the president shouldn't send letters of consolation like this to anyone except perhaps the families of leaders of other countries who have died.

I know it sounds harsh, but having such practices puts people in the position of having to decide which people are "worthy" of them, and that is endlessly messy.
