Makeshift Incubator?

The last egg died this afternoon. The duckling had a crooked beak when I opened the egg, so maybe it was for the best.

Again, thank you for your help! At least we got one to hatch…its name is (tentatively) is Doris/Dorothy :).

Your duck's not an idiot- she did everything right. A duck begins incubation when finished laying her clutch, so that they all will hatch roughly the same time. If you allowed other eggs to be added to the clutch after she started incubating or added more yourself, then of course they're going to hatch later. The mama duck cannot sit there for days and days after the 1st one hatched waiting on the others to hatch. She has to get her new ducklings to food/water after so long. I'd just suck it up and buy a cheap incubator for the others asap.

Thanks :)
I know the duck isn't an idiot, I was just frustrated with her because she wouldn't care for her ducklings nor sit on the eggs - just wanted to go play with her friends.
