I still have a few things to do in my main aviary. But I want to get a habitat ready for my 5 buttons that have splay leg as I keep them separated. Right now they are in a 4' round nylon pet playpen.

I currently have a 2' x 2' x 18" cage that held one pair of buttons before I built the aviary. I have another that's 3' x 2' x 18" that's unfinished. It has a bottom, back and sides, but no top or front.

My plan is to build the two together as one 5' x 2' x 18" cage, and where they meet have an opening that can be closed off for cleaning one side while the birds are in the side not being cleaned. I will be using the deep litter method.

I will post my progress with lots of pictures as I go, just like I did with my aviary build.

Even after all my careful measuring, the liner wouldn't fit back into the cage after it was all put together. The back left corner of the frame was the culprit. I trimmed down that corner while hubby took a chisel to the back left corner of the inside of the cage until we got it to fit in.
