I have a 4x8 coop with a 20 x 10 yard L-shaped at present for 9 bantams; I bought 26 brown egg layers from Murray McMurray the first week of March and only lost 2. I am worried my current house isn’t big enough for 33 chickens.

How big should the coop be and how many nests do I need. I was thinking about turning the 4x4 crates on the side and putting a hole in them stacked so they would have an area for laying and an area with perches. I was going to build 4 stacks and place them together. I was looking at building a run that is 40x10.

But I was thinking about running this against my fenced backyard where my kids and dogs play. Do you think the dogs will stress the chickens?

If so I will have to make it 30 x 10 as that is the materials I have.

My present little coop I have covered the top, I have a couple hawks in the area that keep eyeballing my little dogs so I was thinking they would take a chicken for sure. As it is I think they got a couple Koi from my pond already,,

Any ideas or suggestions on the size or anything else….
Thanks bunches
Zammy
