I have a small wood box that I removed the bottom and add some screen to it. I have a large dowel I can attach it too. I'm wondering if someone can explain how much of an angle the turner needs to be able to tilt. Is it the more, the better as long as they don't fall out? Is there no real science to it? Point side down, right?

Yes point side down. In natural turning by the hen it is eggs on their side being rotated, so with a turner there is no real way to duplicate that. So, no, not really any real science to it other than we know what happens if we don't turn them.

In my sportsman the total tilt is about 60 degrees. 30 degrees each way from horizontal. I think the pro sportsman is even more. I have no idea about the small turners as used in the little giant or hovabator.

cool PDF file. and that is what my angle looks like. watch ur temps. and have a fan if ur eggs are going to be at different levels of the bator like that. still air could fry the eggs that are up and the eggs lower could be to cool.
