making her comfortable?

Our bantam colombian wyandotte has two massive tumors, (each atleast the size of her head). One is right where her wing joins to her body and the other is underneath, near her butt. After paying through the nose to take her to the vet they said it is more than likely cancerous as is feels like it is tissue instead of being 'fatty'. She said we could operate but it is high risk and may only get one removed, if she makes it through surgery at all. After reading many BYC posts and doing our research we have decided it is inevitable that she will have to be euthanised once she starts getting worse, (how we will know that i am not sure as she has always been a little dopey and will happily sleep most the day away).

Ok so my question is, how do we 'make her comfortable'? Do we just dose her up on painkillers until she goes on her own? She seems to be eating fine and will still pick on our other bantam. At night we bring her inside in her own cage to sleep. Betty White is one of the favourite of our 12 chooks and we don't want her to be traumatized.

Thanks in advance!
