making money with chickens?

I vote for "Pipe Dream." I can't imagine being able to make a profit, and still maintain the standard of living I want them to be accustomed to. Earning their keep seems to be a more realistic goal.

If you have pasture and use tractors/moveable coops, then I can see making some profit, although it may be from providing locals with eggs for eating, and meat chickens. These chickens would, of course, need to be the most efficient type for these endeavors, and not necessarily the breed one would prefer to raise. Now, if you're really lucky and just happen to have a passion for, say, Cornish X and Leghorns, then you might have a profitable hobby
