I was watching this video and I noticed he has some young trees tied up make a tepee shape.

I don't know what he's saying, but I doubt he made it as shelter for the birds. In any case, I was kind of inspired by it. I was thinking it would be interesting and fun to make a shelter for my birds using live plants; I would have to put something over it, though, to protect the birds from rain. I think it could be a fun project, though.

What kind of plants would work best? I was considering bamboo, but I'm not sure how well it would do when it snows up here - this one says it's hardy up to -5F, and it doesn't get any colder than 15F in winter here.

What do you guys think?

willow wands are used a lot here for living structures - and anything called a wand ought to suit someone with your user name! :gig
Very true ;) So I would need to order young willow trees? I have a membership to Arborday.org - I was looking at privet bushes, but they have willow saplings, too
