Our Alaskan Malamute broke into run today by pulling the wire away from the wood it was attached to and got one of young 14 week old pullets, my daugters are very upset:(. Is there anything I can do to prevent him from going back for more? All I hear about it once they get one they don't stop going back for more. My husband is on a 10 day Mission in Guatemala and I am at a loss here!

For a dog with that type of prey drive, electric fence is probably the only sure way to keep him away from your chickens. That or a chain link fence for the dog.

I like for my animals to live in harmony and teach my dogs whats off limits while rewarding good behavior
of that sort. Like chasing rats, snakes, bears, coons, etc..
So when my Aussie/Healer decided to take out the neighbors chickens and bring them home as a gift...
I tied a dead rotting chicken to his neck and left it on for a week. My old timer

Grandpa told me to
do this ( I was 16) and that dog NEVER attacked another chicken.
PROBLEM was my mom was out of town on business when I did it and then brought her UBER RICH
NY boss and her associates by the house on their layover. When they got out of the limo there was
my incredibly rancid dog running around their legs with the flopping half rotted chicken brushing up
against them. The entire yard and the house smelled like a corpse and I was grounded for weeks...

But it does work!
