I have a stray very pregnant cat that hangs around my
house and just caught another stray trying to mate with
her. She is due to give birth any day now. I don't know
a lot about cats but is this normal?

Thanks

I don't know that that is normal or not. I do know that sometimes males will kill kittens to bring the female back into heat sooner. But if they are both strays, I am not sure how you will be able to help keep the kitten safe after they are born. But I would almost bet they are in danger from that male.

Yep, a male will definitely kill kittens so he can mate with the female. Any way you can lure either cat into a shed or somewhere else where it can be captured? Because if the kittens grow up, they will be reproducing any time after six months of age, then their kittens will, and so on... You could get over run very quickly. If either or both cats could be caught, there are rescue groups that help with spay/neuter costs. At worst, if they were spayed/neutered, they could be re-released and at least not be sprouting more kittens... of course it's not the ideal solution, but it is one option. Sometimes local animal shelters will help trap strays, or rescue groups may. Check your shelter, and local vets, for help. Good luck.
