My sweet Sam is different than the other 3 in his flock. He's very docile and has great manners. I would like to find him a gal pal. Is it true that there are few female Cayuga's around? I am new to this so not sure where to go for correct information so I joined your group!

Welcome to BYC! Gorgeous Ducks!

Breed availability will vary a lot with location, that said, I can usually find female Cayuga's available on craiglist most of the year, but, there might not be much/ or any in your area.

Most hatcheries do sell Cayuga's, but with most hatcheries you'll need to order several ducks per order, and a lot of the times you can only buy un-sexed, so you may end up with all males and no females.

My suggestion would be to try Craiglist, Facebook BST, or the BackYard Chickens BST.

ETA- I should have clicked on the photo more closely  If you have three male's already, you should consider getting rid of some of the drakes, or adding a few more females to your flock. Or else, significant mating damage done on the hens, especially during springtime will be a given.

Oh, hey, I forgot to mention this, but McMurray Hatchery has ducks available now! They might have Cayugas. I don't know. I hope that this works out for you!
