Cage is 1.5 x 2.5 only 5 in there
It's amazing what a half of a square foot in each direction makes! 3.75 square feet vs 6 square feet! I am SO jealous of your setup! Nice equipment like that just isn't available here (I live in Panama, Central America), and if you could find it, the price would be prohibitive! I'm making do with several 1.66'x3.33' hamster style cages that are 1.5' high. (just over 5.5 square feet before food, water & sandbox), I use the kitchen cabinet expanders to make hidey-holes underneath and elevation for the food and water to keep it cleaner. I keep 6 to 7 adults in each, so going UPWARD was a must for me. These cages cost me $60 USD each. The next step up in cage size available is a dog crate, that I've had to over-wire with hardware cloth to keep them from squeezing out of the cage, it's a whopping 2'x3' (basically same square footage (footprint), but able to add extra floors going upwards as it's a half-foot taller. I also fashioned several T-towel covered ramps for good traction, as I use this particular cage for my 3 to 6 week old quail chicks. This dog kennel is 2' high and is the largest available at the stores here. It set me back $400. Fortunately, it was repurposed as I bought it as a transport solution to take my dogs into town to see the veterinarian several years back (about 13 years ago), to have them spayed and neutered soon after I adopted them. I want YOUR setup! I want it Now! **Whines and Whimpers while turning absolutely green with envy!**And I think I even have 6 sft anyways.
