Is there a particular ratio of male birds to female birds eneded for optimal egg laying? Or do you need to keep any males at all if all you want are eggs?

You don't need a roo for eggs but if you decide to keep one the ratio that has worked for me is 8 to 10 hens per roo.

You do not need to keep a Roo at all unless you want him to fertilize your hens. If you are keeping a Roo though I would so 1 Roo for every 10 hens.

Make sure that you dont get more than 1 older Roo and try and put him with another Roo that will just start trouble. Only Roos that are raised together so be together and that is only if they are nice to eachother and the ladies.
