Interestintg thing happened today.

George and Gracie (male & female geese) have been raised with a duck family.

Gracie is sitting and is due next week. George is a protective daddy. Keeping track of me, her, the cat and the dog.

Now Duckster (black swedish duck) has started sitting on her (duckster's) nest. When I came home this afternoon, George was sitting next to the duck nest. Later on while Duckster was out eating, George sat on the nest a bit.

Haven't seen that before...any thoughts?

the saying "all the good men are taken" fits... he's helping and so's my Snowflake. Snowflake and Grazie are sitting on a clutch of 7 eggs due to hatch either the end of this month or first week of May (since the end of the month was for the first four eggs and the first week of May is for the last three eggs they either added to the clutch or were hiding from me).

Yes, the males do occassionally sit on the eggs. More commonly, though, mine are the 'bouncers' trying ti discourage me from getting anywhere near the ladies and the nests.

Geese are simply amazing parents beofre and after hatch.
