I have a pair of pigeons and the hen has been sitting on her egg for about a week now and the male hasn't sat on it at all. The hen seems quite content to do it on her own but I thought the male was supposed to be taking his turn. Is he being lazy? Should I try pairing her with another mate after she is done with this clutch? Anybody have any insight on this?

I had that happen only once the ♂ abandon the nest and took up with another ♀. He came back into the nest and killed one of the squabs and scalped the second however it did survive.

Do you think it would be wise to remove him? Can the hen raise the squab ok on her own? He seems to be getting along ok with the hen at this point otherwise.

I wouldn't stress out about it. I have a couple of hens that seem to be single moms most of the time. One of my cocks was hand raised to the point I think I ruined his parental instincts (except to mate, no surprise there) and they have done just fine. I had to step in and hand feed one of the smaller squabs for a week or two because she decided to only feed one, but aside from that, they turned out feisty little babies. She was new mom also and it was her first clutch, and now she is foster feeding some other babies as well. If she hatches them, just make sure you keep a close eye on their crops to see she is feeding them both.
