Hello!
I am having a peculiar issue with my ducks. Our original 5 had a male (for sure) and we now have two more, one also male. The younger male has turned green and has a curly feather but the older male doesn’t anymore. I’m not really sure whether this is normal or what’s going on. Any advice is welcome!

My young drake doesn’t have a curl. Not khaki but I’m assuming it’d still be the same. His younger brother has a curl but he doesn’t. Not really sure why but I’ve been told a couple of people have drakes that don’t have a curl.

It’s kinda weird because he had a curl at one point, but doesn’t anymore

I’m not really sure. Maybe it just straightened out for some reason. I wouldn’t be worried about it though. Hopefully someone else can get on to this thread and give some better advice.

When I had two drakes often only one would have the curl that year and it changed which one. I wondered if the one with the curl was the more dominant one and had more male hormones that season 🤷‍♀️.

I was kinda thinking that, but I was hoping someone might be able to confirm.

Both my pekin male and my son's pekin male -- hatched back in March this year -- developed curl feathers by 12 weeks old. Both have now lost them in the last couple of weeks. [They don't seem to have lost their libido, though!]

I expect the curly feathers to grow back in the spring; I expect your drakes' feathers will also grow back in the Spring, Khakiduckies
