Male or female barred rock?

The reason everyone thought it was a hen when you posted younger pics was probably the fact that it's not pure barred rock. A pure barred male is much lighter overall. Folks probably saw the darker coloring and thought female. That bird is all male, and had only one barred parent. Black sex link males are identical to pure barred rock chicks, so it's easy to see how a mistake could be made at the hatchery.

I am still hoping that we are all wrong and Strawberry is a female..... If not we can't keep him....
