So all the golden comets that are brown are female? Sorry to be dense about this but when hatched, one of my 4 was definitely brown the rest yellow. I thought I had 1 hen 3 food. Now that they have feathered out 3 are brown 1 white. Only the white is a roo?

Golden Comets are a specific cross of two different breeds. If you sourced your eggs from a reputable hatchery, then they should be properly sexlinked chicks. Not everyone realizes that two Golden Comets, bred together, will not produce more sexlinked chicks. They don't breed true, since they are a crossbreed. The sexlinking golden females, and white males only works for the first generation.
