This is my newest rescued homing pigeon. I placed it in the enclosure with my other rescue. My 1st pigeon I'm pretty sure is male, he growls, coos all the time and dominates the new one.

The new one, I have not heard coo, does not lay eggs and should be old enough and is much sweeter than the other. I have not seen them breed or fight. Just a quiet male?

??? Thanks!

that looks like a hen to me,
when your other male coos at "it" does he dance, and if so does "it" walk away with "its" tail feathers fanned down?
luke.

I have never seen "it" do that either. I am a stay at home mom, so I see these 2 all the time. But I haven't seen any indications to male or female that I have read about to help me decide.

It if it is a male, then it would appear to be pure red (if it was split for blue, you'd see blue/black flecking in the tail or wings - something only males would have). I'm thinking a hen, but I guess only time will tell

Thanks, but wouldn't I find eggs? How old are they when they start to lay? I have had her (who I named Peaches in hopes of a girl) since the fall. She was old enough to have been used for racing. Wouldn't she be laying by now? She has an area for a nest but.......

Pigeons can take a while to become used to their new homes. Then if a male has mated up with her and begins to drive her to lay she will start. But as for unmated hens laying eggs at random, generally no.
