Morning Y'all!

I am having a really hard time deciding if my 9 week old cayuga is a male or female. Though I'm leaning male given the lack of talking/quietness of the voice vs my khaki Campbell girls who quack loudly.

I've also read that typically males have more coloring to their wings vs females who tend to appear more jet black all over, any thoughts on that?? Midnights wings have a fair amount of blue/purple to them.

Here's a pic of Midnight from the other day. The black/white duck behind midnight is male.

So if midnight is a male my ratios are way off 😬😬

Thanks for any input!

Based off the little bit of noise midnight makes, I'm thinking male. I've only heard a loud noise from him/her a couple of times and not enough to really say one way or the other. This duck really hardly ever makes noise 😏

What did the loud noise sound like? Was it a clear quack or was it raspy? Quiet doesn’t always mean make. I have had several females who never made a sound unless you picked them up or they alerted.

Well I would say it sounded more quack like, I really wish midnight would do it again to help me lol but unfortunately they don't respond to 'speak' like a dog 🤣 if only haha

I may just need to see if in a couple of months I get an egg or not 😏
