Ok, I have 4 Cayugas and 1 runner duck. 9 weeks old. I still can't tell if they are male or female. One of the Cayugas has a kinda curled tail feather. But that one has some nice color. The one Cayuga that's the biggest has amazing color but no curl?? My runner has a curled tail too. Is this the only way to tell? Oh and my smallest Cayuga has barley any color but is the only one that "quacks". And it's LOUD! Any ideas??

The voice. Pick one up at a time and listen to their quack. Boys are raspy girl quack/honk

Yeah I tried that. Can't really tell. Does the color and size have anything to do with it?

You should be able to tell by voice, there is a very distinct difference between the voice of a female duck vs a drake.. the drakes have a raspy, almost hoarse sound, girls are a full on genuine quack like is often used for describing ducks in general.

Drake curls come later on.. but if one is present, it's a drake.. ducks do not get one, but again voice is usually first.. my pekin drake doesn't have his curl yet but you know he's 100% male by voice his ladies are LOUD lol

Ok. Well only one is LOUD so far. The rest just kinda cherp. But as far as Cayugas go, does colorful mean male?

All cayugas are colorful so that is not a way to tell although as cayuga females get older they get white feathers
