Hello guys, I am new to this. I really wanted to ask you guys who have more experience than me (first time raising chicks) if you guys could help figure out if this is a crockerel or a pullet? I was told it was a female, but now I am noticing its growing feathers on its feet and its tail looks pretty long to be 3 weeks. Thank you

I have been successful using the "feather method" when they are a couple days old. Beyond that I could only be sure when I heard one crow! Good luck.

It looks like a pullet to me, but it can be difficult at that age. I have one now that's making me think she could be a he...though the other cockerels have nice, big, red combs. It really can be a toss-up for certain chicks. I really wouldn't worry too much right now. Yep, hard to not think and wonder I know! But the time passes faster than you think and pretty soon you'll know for sure.

Welcome to BYC!

3 weeks old is a bit early to tell gender yet. But from the feathering and leg size, so far, it looks to be a pullet. All this can change in a couple weeks yet. So get back to us in a couple weeks again with new pics and we will be able to make a better judgement.

Welcome to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X3, it is pretty young to tell, nothing screams male.... males sometimes feather in slower than females. Whether or not it gets leg feathers shouldn't have anything to do with its sex
