Male quail mating

We have separated our male quail from the females because every time he would be done mating with them, both females would get weaker or sick. Also it’s been a while since the male has been with the females and he’s more aggressive. But my step-dad keeps on putting the females in with the male for “experiments”. Every time that happens the females start to have problems. He recently put a female in with the male and a couple hours later we saw a bump form around her head. And with our other female quail, she was getting better and better until my step-dad messed with her and put her in with the male, and immediately she got weaker and tired. I’ve seen other people’s male quails peck at the females and they ended up bleeding but I don’t know if this is the same situation. Im sorry if I sound childish but I would be extremely grateful if any of you guys could give me a reason to tell him to stop so that way the females can stop suffering.

Pictures are good. To be clear, you have one roo and two hens, right? For coturnix quail, that's not enough. He needs at least one more hen, three more would be better.

The injuries are probably happening because he's overbreeding them.

I agree with @Nabiki. Sometimes males are fine with that ratio but most of the time you’d see one male with 3, 4 or 5 females because they can be hogs and overbreed them. 😊

You need more hens for the male. Also, you might have an overly aggressive male. Sometimes the younger males are too enthusiastic and don't leave the hens alone. Some are gentle with hens, others - not so much. I have seen a male peck bloody holes into the heads of all 6 of his hens (he got freezer camp, I don't keep psycho genes in my covey). Probably best to not put in the male with the hens until you get more hens. Also, make sure the cage has plenty of room with hiding spots/items so the hens can get away from him and get a rest if needed. If they get stressed out they will stop laying eggs.
