Male quail pulling females feathers out! Help!

Quote:
As for Bobs, as far as my experiments have taken me with ratios, other than 1:1..........there will be no complete civility. If the males aren't scalping the "other females" ("other" meaning: the ones he likes least......for some reason or another), the "other females" will take part in scalping each other. It will make you wanna go quail huntin' in their very own confined space..........

That being said, keeping "all" of your Bobs "looking good" (as in groomed fully feathered) is a challenge.............breeding "season", or not

I have 2 coturnix quail, their about 3-4 months old now, 1 male and 1 female.

I had them in a cage together and my females feathers on her head are getting pulled out from the male mating with her.

I seperated them so my females feathers would grow back, which they are back now. I would like to put them back together but I dont want him to make her bald again.

Is there ANYTHING at all I could do to stop this? PLEASE HELP!!

It can be normal for male conturnix quails to pull female feathers out. this can be for mating or agassion because they don't have much food water, or space.
