Male quail

I hear loud calls from the back yard from my quail does that mean they could be males or do females do that to. How else can I tell if it's a male or female.

Females sound like crickets lol literally at least my coturnix

yep, just like crickets! When mine get stressed it gets louder and louder until it sounds like they're saying "shutup shutup shutup"...

My males are now crowing all night long...does anyone else have this happening?

It happens with my boys when in heat .theyll call all night for a mate

Yea I noticed that they sound like spring peepers,crickets all kinds of cool sounds.
