This is my first experience with bobwhite quail. I have 8 in a 12 by 6 pen. 3 males and five females. A couple of weeks ago one of the males was tearing up another and almost kiled him. I removed the weaker male. The last 2 days the aggressive male is terrorizing all birds in the pen. The other Male as well as the females. Should I remove this super aggressive Male? I plan on culling extra males for consumption. I have read many forums on how many males to keep in pen for breeding. From 1 for every 8 hens to 1 to 1 ratio. These birds are just becoming mature and a couple hens have started laying. I have had coturnix quail for a couple of years and have never had a Male that has been this aggressive. Is this the way bobwhites are or is this not common? Any input would be appreciated.
