Hello all , If someone could help me with how many females to a male I would appriciate it. Im trying to order my chick tonight and need to know. Im gonna start with 25 mixed assortment brown egg layers from mcmurray.

For 25 chickens, two roos should do the trick. Even one should be fine.

Do you want fertile eggs or do you want eggs?

If you want fertile eggs. 1 roo to 10 hens.

If you want lots of eggs. More hens, No roos.

Agreed. I've read that 10 hens to 1 rooster is a good target. You could probably get away with fewer hens if the rooster was nice, but I'd only order 2 males max., as you'll probably end up with more than that anyway in your order. I could be wrong. That's just my opinion.

Well thanx for the info im gonna order females so hopefully they'll be sexed right. I belive I'll order two roo's . Yeah Id like to breed them. I've always had just hens so this will be my first time with both.

well think of it this way... a good ratio is 2 rooster to 25 hens in your case so order two.... and if worse case senario they both die, people are always getting rid of roosters
