I just brought home 6 peachicks of various kinds - White, Black Shoulder, India Blue and India Blue Pied. They range in age from 10 days to 10 weeks. Have NO idea what sex they are. The oldest ones are white.
Yes, the two older ones are separated from the 4 younger ones
What I have noticed is that two of the younger ones are aggressive; the White bites my fingers hard and the India Blue pecks at them. All of the other birds just stay still and pretend I don't see them. With chickens this pretty much indicates Male/Female personalities. Is this the same for peafowl? Can the aggression be trained out, is it a phase, or is it a temperament issue that stays for the life of the bird? The bird that bites is the one I am most concerned about. I would hate to have a peafowl that eventually ended up in freezer camp.
I am working with all of these birds to make them as tame as possible. They were all handled by the breeders as well.
Thanks,
