Hi I was wondering if i male quails crow like roosters. . . if so how loud ?

Also where to female quails lay their eggs ? do they use nesting boxes like chickens ?

out of button quail and coturnix quail which do you prefer for laying purposes ?

what is the price today going for a dozes eggs ?like $2 ?

Hi Quailbuddy,

Males do crow, but not very loud. (I can't have a rooster because of noise, but I can have the male coturnix.)

Females don't normally lay their eggs in boxes, but you can make one and they might take to it.

Coturnix all the way for laying! After 7 weeks of age, you get an egg a day just like clockwork! I'm not sure, but they are also larger than button, and buttons take longer to mature I think

Today's prices.... hmmm...... $2.00 sounds about right, it depends on the market in your area.

Hope this helped!

About where do quails lay. Well as for my experience they lay where ever they wantt. My quails for example some of them they lay on their nest in their coop but others they just lay around they pen. Everyday I found at least one egg on the pen just on the ground and the rest there usually on the nest, I leave 4 eggs there all the time so I think that gives them an idea of where they should lay

Sometimes my quail feel the need to all lay in a corner, but then once I consider a box for there, they all start laying wherever strikes their fancy

I though it would take them longer than 7 weeks . . . i thought they would be like chickens . . . but that is good to hear:yiipchick
