Malformed egg

My chicken is laying a very large brown egg however, the top have is usually soft and translucent. We have chicken feed, layers mash, oyster shell, crushed blue stone and tons of fresh veggies from my garden. They are also allowed to free range. Have no idea if this egg is safe to eat or why it isn't forming properly. Also have introduced new chickens in July to establish flock with rooster, and have not had much of any egg production since. Please HELP!

What a mystery! Have you tried grinding up some egg shell and feeding it to her in some oatmeal? That works for my old hen.
