I have a young mallard duck pair. The female has laid 4 eggs in the past 4 days. We have had weird weather with some warm days but cold temps again this week. It is still winter! Each time I've touched the egg in the nest it has been freezing cold and I've never seen her near the nesting box. If I leave the eggs there will she sit on them? Or should I just keep removing the eggs? (We will eat them). I don't want to leave the eggs there for them to go bad. I would like her to hatch ducklings but would prefer the weather to be warmer.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
