I know this isn't a chicken question but I do not know where else to ask. I have reached out to the local game warden but have yet to receive a return phone call. When we got our chickens, my wife also nabbed a couple of mallard ducks. My question is, since mallard ducks are a federally protected species are there any tags or anything I need to put on mine so that if someone calls the game warden I can show I have purchased and raised the ducklings? I am in Texas BTW.

You can post this in the "ducks" forum.

@Hybridchucks what do you think?

Domestic mallards are marked at the time they hatch in such a way that if checked by a game warden they can tell they are domestics. One of their back toes will have been cut off at hatch.

Thanks. I will have to check them when I get home. Sorry for not posting this to the duck section. I will look harder next time.

It doesn't matter now since you've only just joined I suppose I'm not going to rip to shreds for it.. LOL
just joking.
Ask @KikisGirls if you need a BYC tutorial so you know how to wrap your head round this site.

This should help you out:

I have never heard of this situation.
I would personally just keep my receipt, just in case.
