Mallard hen question

My Mallard hen, Gigi will lower her head and walk chattering at me when I go outside. It doesn't seem aggressive. Does she see me as a vending machine? Lol. Also, she has been wandering off like she is nesting, but I have checked everywhere and can’t find any nests anywhere!

Given her behavior, it's very likely your Mallard is broody.

Around here, as soon as they're able to lay an egg, they attempt to incubate.

I have two other hens laying. I know it’s not Gigi because her eggs are blue and these are white. So do you think she’s got some hidden somewhere ?

With Mallards, they almost always hide their nest in an extremely hard spot to find - that has been my experience with them anyway.

Doesn't surprise me, Mallards build their nests to circumvent possible detection of possible predators, and you are one. Next time you see the Mallard, just follow her around for a while and see where she takes you.
