I know that male mallards go through a molt in the summer, but ours seems to have been molting for about 8ish months. He did drop all of his flight feathers a few weeks back and has been getting new ones but his head has not been green for a very long time. Does any body know why that could be? He is our only drake so maybe since he doesn't have any competition for breeding, he doesn't need it? We miss his beautiful coloring! If any one knows of something we can do, please help!
