My Pekin matured to begin laying last December and continued laying regularly until fall moltso my two mallards just started laying yesterday, and they were hatched in april. so, even if they are laying right now, will they still lay in the spring?
A few weeks back i found the nest my mallard was tending under meath the deck. She had like 15 eggs in it. I destroyed as I do NOT want more than my 5 ducks. She quit laying. I was consistently getting 2 eggs a day from my other two ducks. Yesterday i made sure i moved all the shavings to find any eggs. I am fairly confident i found all eggs (4). This morning i found SIX eggs. So maybe yes, your mallards may lay all winter. No slowing down in Northeastern Nevada. In fact they are increasing!!!
