How often do you need to clip your mallard's wings?

When I had mallards, I did it annually. Right after they finished molting. And clip only one wing so they fly off balanced.

I clip my snowy mallard and crested grey mallard hens' wings annually, but I clip both sides. I prefer to clip both wings so the duck's wings aren't lop sided.

And to make it look more normal you could leave a couple of the longer feathers at the end of the wing.

I only clip my new mallards wings, with my ones I’ve had for a few years I leave them.
