Up to now, Mama and chicks have been in a fenced part of the run, so everyone can see one another. The other day a cold front hit and knocked the fence down. One of my Leghorns went after one of the chicks and Mama beat the living stuffing out of her. lol. Today, I let everyone free range together and only a couple of minor spats happened. Can I put them together at this point, or keep supervising them?

Keep an eye on them. Eight week old chicks are no match for mature hens. If the mother hen or a rooster doesn't step in to protect them, the little take a beating. They get things sorted out after while, but it can be brutal and sometimes, a bully just doesn't let up.

Thank you, I will watch them tomorrow afternoon. I need to clean up my garden anyway, and it is next to the coop, and run. I am anxious to get everyone together.
