Mama Hen W/ babies

Totally normal! She is being a good momma by weaning them. She actually stayed with them much longer than most do too!
We always call this the Harry and the Hendersons stage. "Get out of here, we don't want you anymore!" But actually, she's just being a good momma and teaching her babies to be chickens.

Ha! I love that-thanks for the info-she is a great mom-never thought Id love having chickens but they really do have great personalities =)

Mine were weaned at 7 weeks the first batch. This batch is two weeks now, so we will see where that number falls again in about 5 weeks

Watch out for bullying by the other hens though. Especially if you don’t have a rooster. They’ve lost her protection :/
