Mama hen

I know a mama hen will protect babies form most animals. But what about a snake. I want to let mama raise the chicks in a separate pen but not sure if she will protect from a snake , which is my only concern what y'all think ?

Most hens will try, but the snake is very likely to win.

Modern Game hens will kill snakes, and eat them if they want to. Other kinds of hen's, I'm not so sure about. Will a snake hang around if a chicken is flogging it? I would try to protect the hen and chicks from intruding snakes if they are a problem.
