This is a pic of my 3 week old Quail Belgian D'Anvers chick (one of 4). This chick is the most curious and unshy of the bunch. He (?) is the first one to jump out of the brooder when the cover comes off and he frequently flies over to me and sits on my shoulder and preens me or tries to eat an earring. We got this breed because they are supposed to be calm and easily tamed, but I really had no expectation that they would turn out to be this sweet.

Everything I read said that they'd be fine in the winter. We have a Japanese bantam and a sebright who both did fine in our (admittedly mild) winter here in MA. We have 4 porcelain d'uccle chicks too, so if it gets cold they call all snuggle together like they do now at naptime.
