Alright... update here. Hatching started today

and I want to move chicks to a brooder since I decided to place some more eggs under the hen...

When should I do this? Should I go one by one or wait till they are almost all out? The brooder has the right temp and everything I just don't want to risk the chicks if they need more time w/ mom... ( and for some reason I don't even think that makes sense at all for chickens)... anyways...

My other concern is that if I let her too much time w/them she would stand and not sit anymore or that they would get loose in a cage that is pretty big and kind of hard for me to reach in to...

So they question would be... how soon can I move them to the brooder?

She may leave the nest even though you remove the chicks. Even if she remains setting it is very likely that she will quit before another 21 days go by. Brooding takes a lot out of a hen. Why not let her raise this batch?

IIIIi knooooowwww!!!! that's an option... I am torn appart in this decision...I really don't know what to do

.

I don't want the chicks that are half way there (I have two eggs that were put there by another hen in the middle pf the process) to die... On the other hand I can also put all unhatched eggs in my other hen's nest to see if she sits, but ... what if she doesn't?

I think I just need her to sit for one more week and then rest (chickless) cause I'd like to manage the chicks in a brooder closer to my house and the coop is farther and yet not chick ready.

Decisions,decisions...
