Mamma ducks seem really thin

So, I have 3 mallard ducks and 2 of the females have been nesting (one of the females eggs just hatched) and they both seem REALY thin. Like under a pound and I can feel there bones. My drake seems to be a normal weight though. Is it normal for nesting ducks to be really thin? Also the one that doesn't have babies yet has a lot of missing feathers in the back of her neck and she's acting kinda crazy. Thank you any help is appreciated?!!

it is normal for nesting birds to lost some weight but not a ton, as for the missing feathers I don't have an answer for you.

I just looked that up and apparently its from the drake matting with them and its normal

I had to separate my drake from the female every time she came out for a break he would try an mate her she went crazy did not want to breed. the babies hatched 12 of them. I still keep him out I am afraid he will kill the babies .

Luckly my drake is realy nice to the babies and actually helps care for them
